The border crossing was a little touch-and-go, due to the bus company being useless. We were supposed to change busses close to the border, but the bus we were getting onto had left when we arrived, so they frantically organised a taxi to race after it. Luckily, the bus was delayed at immigration, so it was only 10 minutes away.

I saw two people getting refused entry into Peru, one because he was just doing a “border run”, trying to extend his Ecuadorian visa. Apparently there’s some new limit in place, and he had to return to Cuenca. Bummer.

Máncora is the premier beach and surf destination in Peru, one of the only spots on the coast with warmish water. The party scene is pretty notorious, especially around Loki hostel which was across the street from the one I stayed at, Kokopelli. I really wanted to move to the chill spot up the beach, away from the madness of drunk 18 year olds, but they had no room up there, and since there were no waves anyway, I decided to chuck it further south. After one big night, of course.
