Screaming over the dunes in a buggy at 100km/h is basically pure terror. It’s exactly like being on a rollercoaster - that isn’t attached to anything and slides all over the place and could basically flip at any second.

It was an amazingly beautiful tour though, and the dunes are really good for sandboarding. I managed to get a few turns in, but it isn’t nearly as much fun as snowboarding.

The little town is called Huacachina, and it surrounds an actual desert oasis outside of the city of Ica. You can see the picture of it above, just a valley in the desert with a tree-lined lake, hostels and restaurants.
